Gareth and Louise met in 1997 through a mutual friend who worked with Gareth at Redlands News - Penarth's answer to Clerks' Quick Stop. Gareth first saw Louise from behind and was so impressed by her tight brown trousers that he downed a one-litre carton of orange juice in under thirty seconds. No girl could resist such a manly reaction and they started dating within one week. They soon became inseparable best friends, sharing a passion for music, The Blues Brothers and Haribo Tangfastics. Since 2000, Gareth and Louise have lived together in Penarth and have been joint webmasters of Prawn Cufflinks since 2007.
GARETH
Gareth, 28, was born in Cardiff and has lived in the area ever since. He initially showed signs of an acting career after a brief appearance opposite Sean Bean in the BBC's 1991 television movie Prince. This in turn led to a deadpan performance as the innkeeper in Stanwell School's 1994 nativity which brought the house down. However, it was writing which provided the most pleasure. Whether writing in his spy journal ("9:38pm - lights go on at no. 112 / 9:40pm - lights go off at no. 112"), penning hair rock songs about the joys of "slapping some arse" or creating long, flowing love letters to Louise Wener from Sleeper which never even made it to a postbox, the young, shy Gareth had found a way of letting his inner chatterbox out on to paper.
By the time he reached sixth form, there was no stopping him. After finishing his A Levels at Stanwell, the next logical step was to study Journalism and Cultural Criticism at Cardiff University. The academic side was all well and good, but the best thing to come out of those three years were the people and stories which came to influence Gareth more than he could have imagined: An insane Nigerian seminar tutor, parties which tended to culminate with Gareth singing a capella medleys of Simply Red hits, Louise flashing her ample breasts at a circle of applauding men during some particularly exuberant Christmas celebrations - yes, Gareth would dine out on those tales for years. Indeed, it was after sitting on them for a few years that he finally got around to publishing them on the original blog version of Prawn Cufflinks (and later, Blog Of Two Head). The rest is history. Or, at least, self-explanatory.
Gareth enjoys films and music, but his overwhelming passion is television. He'll never turn down the opportunity to sing an obscure theme tune - perhaps Oh! Doctor Beeching or Penelope Keith's Next Of Kin - or baffle you with some trivia about a middle-of-the-night '80s programme which was only watched by three insomniacs and a night watchman. Gareth is a lifelong fan of Status Quo, has a fondness for curvy brunettes and is addicted to pickled onion Space Raiders. Gareth's all-time hero is original Quo bass player Alan "Manly" Lancaster.
Louise, 27, was born in Ashford, Kent but moved to South Wales soon after. After attending Catholic schools in Barry and Cardiff, she studied Journalism and Welsh at Cardiff University. After some early writing success, including pieces for Official Dreamcast Magazine, she developed an interest in web design and digital art. Having taught herself to use HTML and Photoshop, she launched her first basic websites in 2003 - LouMoo's Creations and Ralf Schumacher Fanclub. More projects followed - Cora Schumacher Fanclub, Tomb Raider Costume Resource, Resident Evil Costume Resource and Video Game Costume Resource - each one bigger and better than the last. In 2007, having helped out on an unofficial basis for a year, she became an official partner in Prawn Cufflinks and celebrated the one million visitors mark during the summer of 2008.
Louise enjoys watching films and television, reading, music and the little known hobby of doll customising. Louise's favourite musician is Michael Jackson and she has an overwhelming addiction to power ballads.
